I've Violated My Probation and Left the State and Want to Know Some Details
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio. I violated my probation in Ohio and didn't appear for my court date because i knew I would exist sent to jail or prison considering information technology wasn't the first fourth dimension i violated. I was on felony probation, my 1st felony, for possession of xl dollars worth of heroin. So I left Ohio and moved to Alabama. My question is what will happen if a law enforcement officer from Alabama runs my info.? Volition my Ohio warrant show up and if so what will happen? Will I be extradited dorsum to Ohio? Will I be arrested in Alabama and be ordered to serve my jail/prison time there?
I am very curious about this and whatever assist and info. will be much, much appreciated.

Nosotros cannot predict the future.
If you are stopped, the officer certainly could come across an outstanding warrant and incarcerate yous. During that incarceration, the Alabama authorities will ask Ohio if they want to pay to ship you dorsum.
We cannot predict what Ohio's respond will exist.
If they say yes, you get dorsum to Ohio and serve your time. If they say no, y'all go released... until the next time you are picked upward.
Each fourth dimension will price y'all between one and three days in jail depending on the day of the calendar week and the fourth dimension of year and the workload on both sides.

well I certainly appreciate the feedback! thank you! And then hmmm...if I become arrested or pulled over or whatever and the Alabama authorities contact Ohio I'thousand guessing (or hoping) that Ohio will not want to pay to ship me all the fashion back for a modest amount drug possession charge. If that'south the case and I serve a few days in an Alabama jail and become released are you saying if i get pulled over a week later that the same warrant will show up again and I will be in the aforementioned exact situation again? In other words, if Ohio does non want to pay to ship me back and I serve a curt time in jail the warrant similar never goes abroad? (-unless of form, I go back to Ohio and take care of it by turning myself in or any.)

Re: I've Violated My Probation and Left the State and Want to Know Some Details
Well, I've been reading thru other posts on this wonderfully helpful and remarkably resourceful website and I think I may already know the answer to my question.
If I do not confront my warrant in Ohio, it will never go away. And every time a law enforcement officer runs my info. I will be arrested because of it. Now, this might seem to some, a stupid result to exit unresolved, but I am looking at it like this: (assuming Ohio does not want to pay to have me shipped all the way back for a pocket-sized corporeality drug possession charge) all i have to practise is stay out of problem and information technology seems almost a no-brainer. If I were to plow myself in in Ohio I'd be looking at between ii and 12 months in jail or prison. I'g 38 yrs. onetime. Law enforcement has ran my info. 4 times in my life. Twice for speeding tickets, once for a parking ticket, and one time for this F-5 (the smallest felony in Ohio and the only trouble I take ever been in. I've never had a misdemeanor and this is my only felony.) At present, with my youth and (mild) reckless behavior backside me (and believe me, information technology'south behind me!), I say odds are a law officer might run my info. ii, maybe 3 more times in my life. Fifty-fifty if it turns out to exist 4 times, and all 4 autumn on fri'due south, that's a total of most 12 to 14 days in jail...nonconsecutive! Sooo...it's xiv days, nonconcurrent versus 2 to 12 months straight. Now i never was very good at math but the sometime seems to be the more sensible option, for he who detests being in jail. At present I know for this scenario to work Ohio has to not desire to pay to have me shipped back (and i remember that will exist the example, information technology's not like it was a major felony or a violent offense or anything like that. All my fines are paid) And every bit far equally jobs go, i am a landscaper for life. 90% of landscaping companies don't do background checks, and then cypher to worry about there.
And then, equally it turns out, I guess my only real question isn't even a question pertaining to the law but more to......um.....I'one thousand not sure of how I'm trying to put this, merely basically I approximate I'm asking is my thinking on this fantastically cool? because evidently I practice not want to spend a lot of time in jail. I did 5 strait days when i originally got arrested for this and I thought I was going to lose my heed in there.
Really I just thought of some other important question (I can't believe I didn't think to ask this till just at present,) Does having a warrant interfere with things such equally renewing your drivers liscense and motorcar. plates?
p.s. I apologize if this post is inappropriate.

Quoting cyjeff
Simply then again I never had felony warrants
Merely yea more then probable since its a felony probation warrant the cops well some may endeavor to fool with y'all . They dont like felony warrants especially when people skip town..
But I doubt Ohio will come up downwards to get for this.
When i had a probation warrant whenever I got pulled over they wouldnt fifty-fifty mention annihilation about it and say to me have a good solar day.
I had 3 ohio warrants and living in TN now. Nevertheless got the ohio warrants. Only those are for tickets
But you never know if they will come and go you...
EXAMPLESay Ohio already is coming to maybe Memphis TN to choice up a murder suspect and extradite him back, then you get pulled over. Ohio will meet that they are already headed that fashion then they volition be like yea we might as well get him since we are already downwards there...
I know MI dont go no more then 60 miles for misdemeanor warrants

We tin can exercise this all 24-hour interval. The bottom line is, nobaody knows. I served a warrant in Illinois for a case he violated in Louisiana. Take your chances and roll the dice, or turn yourself in and take care of the inevitable.
